Music….. Frankly speaking I m not much into music and all… They don’t interest me like hell…. Yeah but I definitely yield to it when my fluctuating mood allows me to do so…. I appreciate good music( but so does everyone ).. However sufi music is something which I find the most soothing and near to my heart…… It seems so pious, so refreshing, that I whenever I want to get myself recharged, I take shelter under its banner… So which are my favourite sufi songs!!
Here goes the list….. These are my favourites without any discrimination by giving futile rankings to them…
# Mann Ki Lagan -This song from the film Paap is a masterpiece from Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan.. The more I hear it, the more it appeals.
# Main jahan Rahun – Movie – Namaste London, Artist – Rahet Fateh Ali Khan..
# Aaoge jab tum – Movie-Jab we met, Artist – Rahet Fateh Ali Khan
# Saaiyan -Album- Jhoomo Re, Artist- Kailash Kher(Probably my favourite)
# Naina – Movie- Omkara, Artist- Rahet Fateh Ali Khan
# Teri Deewani - Album-Kailasha, Artist- Kailash Kher
# Lambi Judai – Movie- The Hero, Artist- Reshma
# Maula Mere Le Le Meri Jaan – Movie- Chak De India, Artist- Krishna And Salim Merchant
# Ik Omkar- Movie- Rang De Basanti – I have not been able to understand the meaning of this song.. It is probably a religious song….. Anyways I love this one absolutely
# Jag Soona Soona Lage – Movie- Om Shanti Om, Artist – Not known to me
# O Re Piya – Movie- Aaja Nach Le, Artist- Kailash Kher
# Piya Haji Ali - Movie- Fiza, Artist – Not known to me.
# Tu Meri Jaan Hai – Album- Jhoomo Re, Artist- Kailash Kher
# Jiya Dhadak Dhadak – Movie- Kalyug, Artist- Rahet Fateh Ali Khan.
# Tere Bina – Movie- Guru, Music Director- AR Rahman.. Though this choice is controversial as many persons may raise their eyebrows for its inclusion into a list of sufi songs list… However for me this is as startling as other sufi songs…
Other than these songs sone “non-conventional” sufi songs which occupies a place in my sufi playlist in my laptop and my mobile are following.
# Woh Kagaz Ki Kashti – Artist- Jagjit Singh – This ghazal is one of my favourites. I just get lost into the magnificent voice of Jagjit Singh.
# Mitwa – Movie-Kabhi Alwida Na Kehna – This is also a good song however someone which I do not highly rate in front of the other listmates.
# Bol Na Halke Halke – Movie- Jhoom Barabar Jhoom. This is another top quality song.
# Layi Vi Naa Gayi – Movie- Chalte Chalte. Weeping atleast once a week is considered to be useful for clean eyes. This song helps me do the same.
# Dil De Diya Hai – Movie- Masti. Another sad song to feature in my list other than Layi Vi Na Gayi and Woh Kagaz Ki Kshti.. However I just can’t help myself from liking them.
# Tu Jo Nahin - Movie- Woh Lamhe. I liked this song after watching the movie… Another sad song but equally splendid.
# Maa – Movie- Taare Zameen Par. Do I need to praise this song? I m speechless. AR Rahman and Prasun Joshi have created a masterpiece.
# Main To Tere Pyar Me Deewana Ho Gaya- Movie- Traffic Signal, Artist- Kailash Kher. I read about this song somewhere and then I heard it. Found to be a typical Kailash Kher song and hence it is here.
# Ek Pal Ke Liye – Movie- Ankahee. I used to hear this song when I did not have much songs in my playlist. I had to hear it atleast a couple of hundred times. But even then I still listen to it with same eagerness.
# Ek saathi Aur Bhi Tha – Movie- LOC. A sad song. A long sad song actually. Even then I listen to it quite regularly. The message of the song is loud and clear.
# Ae Jaate Hue Lamhon – Movie- Border.
# Mere Palak Ka Tu Hi Sitara – Artist- KK, Movie- Showbiz.
I hope you find this list useful.. Comments are highly appreciated on my list. And if you have any song that has been missed by me, please let me know and I would more than happy to listen to it and add it up here.
