Shekhar Suman & Gurpal Singh, both are well recognized faces in the kingdom of laughter. Shekhar Suman’s show Movers & Shakers had been legendary and trendsetter in terms of laughter shows. Whereas Gurpal Singh, the Chhupa Rustam guy had been a house hold name with his show. For the first time both these maestros are being screened together in the talk show “TEDHI BAAT.” So the expectation was bound to be skyhigh.
Today i.e on 6th July the first episode was aired and the debut has been brilliant. This is a talk show where Shekhar will play different roles and he will be interviewed by Gurpal Singh. In the first episode, Shekhar portrayed a senior Railway officer where he tried to answer the critical questions of Gurpal Singh in the best non-serious manner. I loved every bit of the show. Gurpal’s expressions and Shekhar’s answers to his questions were absolutely delightful. The best part is that there is no mimicry in the show. The expressions & dialogue delivery has been immaculate by both the persons. The sarcastic comments and the scripts just sends you into a burst of laughter. Timely comments, their quarrel, Gurpal’s irritation, everything has been hilarious abt the show. Though there were some situations in the show which I think will be repeated in the future shows. Even then for the first episode they did a fairly good job. I would have loved to watch next shows but unfortuanately we don’t have personal TVs in our hostel.
In nutshell, TEDHI BAAT justifies the hype which was created in its pre-launching marketing. The show is a wonderfully light hearted show. However the repetition of script should be avoided which I fear may become a major problem for the serial in future.
My rating :- ***/*****
I don’t know why but I could not amass more stars for this show even though I liked it to a great extent. May be my expectation was too high with the show and it has not been catered well.

Thanks.
Its tough to keep on when we do 4 episodes a week. Still looking for good writers.
Cheers
Gurpal
